First Fronteras

First Fronteras
First Fronteras is a collaborative action in which curator Adriana Monsalve asked a vast variety of individuals to share the first frontera they remember being confronted with. The word frontera is not limited to landscape or environment, but can be interpreted in countless ways. All of these submissions share a similar sentiment, related to the tumultuous space that is the first wall contributors can remember coming up against. First Fronteras is published by Homie House Press, a skeleton bones crew of femmes creating and publishing in the foto book medium. They are photographers, book-makers, and educators holding space for and with QTPOC artists and other underrepresented communities. They are a playground where foto become books, a safe space for secret stories, and an open house for honest content. Find them migrating through the in-between, the world wide web, and al otro lado del charco (Printed Matter).
