On the eve of the feminist protests for International Women’s Day, the mexican government decided to fence off the National Palace to prevent the protestors from approaching, and in this way, to “take care of the patrimony of the mexican people and avoid confrontation... a ‘wall of peace’ that guarantees liberty and protects from provocations”. On Saturday, March 6th, the collective Antimonumenta CDMX decided to intervene these fences with the names of the victims of femicides in our country. Throughout the following days, hundreds of women painted names and left flowers in honor of the victims... To remember them; to keep them out of oblivion; to commemorate them. These photographs show each one of the fences that were painted in front of the National Palace. One hundred thirty two images with names of women victims of femicides, to be read by everyone.
